Jeffrey is a founding partner and principal of the firm. He is a former Judge Pro Tem of the Municipal Court of California, San Diego County.

Jeffrey specializes in all aspects of complex commercial litigation, resort and tourism law, admiralty, insurance defense, corporate crisis management, and media relations. In his 20 years of practicing law, he has accumulated extensive experience handling mass casualty cases, class actions, products and premises liability matters, sexual assault, negligent security, and medical malpractice cases.  He has substantial trial experience and is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.  

Clients frequently call upon Jeffrey to assist with crisis management and help their companies effectively respond to major mass casualty and other high profile crisis.  At client's request, he frequently appears in the media to represent companies on CNN, Court TV and other major television networks. Jeffrey has appeared on Dateline, Nancy Grace, Anderson Cooper 360, and the Today Show. 

Outside the courtroom, Jeffrey frequently lectures on a wide array of maritime human resources and tort issues. He also provides training to both shoreside and shipboard employers and employees on issues such as diversity and sexual harassment. When not practicing law, you can usually find Jeffrey working with his family's wine company Maltzman Family Vineyards which produces exceptional Cabernet, Merlot and Chardonnay in California's famed Napa Valley.

Steve is a partner in the firm's Coral Gables office.  He previously worked with the law firm of Maltzman Foreman, P.A.  

Steve practices civil litigation with an emphasis on resort and tourism law and the defense of passenger and crewmember maritime tort claims. He also handles complex commercial litigation and class action claims.  

Steve began his legal career as the staff attorney to a distinguished judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida—Complex Civil Litigation Division. Before entering the legal profession, Steve was a general foreman for a large industrial contractor based in Los Angeles.

Ana is a partner in the firm's Coral Gables office and supervises the firm’s employment practice. She has represented large and small businesses and corporate executives in a diverse range of employment matters such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. Ana has extensive experience in both state and federal courts and at administrative proceedings before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Florida Commission on Human Relations.  

Ana has experienced with management and training guidance, policy drafting and implementation, disability and accessibility issues, audit programs, and employment and separaton agreements.  Ana no longer actively litigates cases but often shares her enormous experience with clients and other firm attorneys.  She also periodically conducts training seminars and classes on timely human resource and employment law topics such as diversity, avoiding employment lawsuits, and effective dealings with the EEOC for in-house personnel.

Ana was previously an attorney at Steel Hector & Davis and served for two years as a federal law clerk to the Hon. Ursula Ungaro.  Prior to embarking on her legal career, Ana held a variety of senior management positions in the banking industry.

Rafaela works out of the firm's Florida office and specializes in maritime and travel law with an emphasis in international arbitration.   She is originally from Puerto Rico and is fluent in both English and Spanish.  

While at the University of Miami School of Law Rafaela was an editor for the Inter-American Law Review and conducted extensive research on international arbitration and the enforceability of international arbitration agreements.

Ed is an attorney handling matters in the firm's Carlsbad and Los Angeles offices. He regularly practices in the areas of personal injury and professional liability defense for a variety of clients including the State of California.  Having tried numerous cases to jury verdict, Ed is an experienced trial attorney and has earned the honor of admission into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).  He also continues his longtime service as an arbitrator/mediator to both the San Diego and Riverside County Superior Courts.

Ed is licensed to practice law in both California and Colorado and is a member of the California and Colorado Bar Associations as well as the Los Angeles and San Diego County Bar Associations. 

Ed received his Bachelors (BA) Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in 1976.   After working for several years in management for an international food service company, he attended the law and graduate business schools at the University of Denver where he received his Juris Doctor (JD) in 1983 and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in 1984.   He is an experienced litigator with over 30 trials to his credit.

Heather has extensive experience practicing law in the area of insurance defense litigation and routinely handles the defense of numerous clients in all aspects of litigation.  Heather has a strong background in personal injury, construction defect and real estate litigation with her primary focus being in the area of personal injury defense.

Teresa works out of the firm's Los Angeles office.   She obtained her undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from UCLA, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.  She attended the University of Southern California Gould School of Law on a full academic scholarship.  Teresa has over 20 years of litigation experience.  For most of her career, she has defended major insurance companies and self-insured entities in cases involving significant personal injuries and/or multi-million dollar property losses. Teresa has drafted appellate briefs and has argued before the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District. Teresa's experience makes her an effective and efficient litigator.

He has extensive experience with maritime and travel law and originally began work with Jeffrey Maltzman at Kaye, Rose & Maltzman in 1996. Representative clients have included the State of South Carolina, Shipowners, Landowners, Developers, Financial Investors and Purchasers and Sellers of Documented Vessels and Real Property.  Steve has extensive trial experience in both state and Federal courts and has been an active member of the firm's emergency response team handling such mass casualties as the Star Princess cruise ship fire.
